Melissa and Dean wanted a short, intimate wedding where they could quickly get to the things they enjoyed - eating and dancing! No bridesmaids or groomsmen to slow them down as they prepared for their 6 minute wedding ceremony. But don't think the day was rushed. It was beautifully elegant, from Crown Towers through to the rolling hills of The Yarra Valley.
Mel and Dean knew what they wanted and planned the day perfectly. All this, set against the backdrop of a summer storm, made it one of our most memorable and enjoyable weddings.
If you're thinking of having a simple wedding with only your closest friends and family, but would like to indulge in a little elegance and luxury, then take page out of Mel and Dean's book. We began the day in the king suite of Crown Towers Melbourne where we photographed their preparation shots. No bridesmaids or groomsmen, no hairdressers or beauticians. As you can see below, Melissa was more than capable of doing her own hair and makeup!
Picture an outdoor wedding ceremony set amongst rolling hills and a gorgeous panoramic view of Yarra Glen. Now imagine said wedding ceremony lasting 6 minutes! This was the shortest wedding we've ever photographed. But that didn't make it any less intimate as Mel and Dean wanted to spend less time at the altar and more time celebrating their marriage with friends and family.
See those dark clouds over yonder in the pics above? They decided to rain down on us moments after the ceremony and the group photos were done. The threat of rain isn't usually ideal at an outdoor wedding but today it provided welcome relief from the warm weather.
The owner of the Riverstone Estate drove us around the beautiful property in a buggy for some photos down by the river. We had a fun photoshoot in the rain and oh, did I mention their rottweiler attended the wedding too?
The heavens opened but we were dry in the cozy dining room enjoying an amazing buffet spread and dancing. Lots of dancing. Good food, good music, good friends and the sound of rain on the metal roof. What a perfect way to end an amazing day.
You don't always need bridesmaids, stained glass windows and a sunny day for a perfect wedding. Sometimes a 6 minute wedding with your closest friends and your dog in heavy rain is perfect. Crown Towers and the backdrop of Riverstone Estate help too :)
