When we met with Jia and Cecelia at our studio, Jia made it clear to us that he felt awkward in front of the camera and would need help with posing. This is pretty common for many couples and we therefore set out to make things as comfortable as possible, capturing more candid photos, but still achieving a few staged shots at the beautiful Cloudehill Gardens.
They had a lovely First Look there followed by a chapel ceremony and dinner reception at Poet's Lane.
Cecelia and her bridesmaids got ready at her family home in Box Hill, and our photographer Dani spent an hour there capturing some lovely photos and portraits.
Meanwhile, not too far away in Kew, Jia and the boys were getting ready at his home, so Terence headed there to grab some shots before heading up to Cloudehill Gardens.
Because their ceremony was later in the afternoon with a dinner reception, they decided to have their location shoot before the ceremony. This included a First Look at Cloudehill Gardens, and we always love the emotion that it brings. Because this was a May wedding, we had all the beautful colours of autumn resulting in some great photos, one of which we printed and framed and this large portrait now sits over their bed at home.
Common to many Asian cultures is the tea ceremony, where the bridal couple will serve their older relatives cups of tea, and receive gifts in return, often along with some words of wisdom.
It was then time for the main event! Although it was getting chilly outside, all the guests were comfortable and warm in the cozy Poet's Lane chapel.
Everyone had a fantastic time at the reception as Jia and Cecelia performed their bridal waltz, cut a beautiful cake, and got stuck into the awesome desert spread! Congratulations Jia and Cecelia. You are both such a genuine, down to earth couple and we wish you all the best in your life together!
